Oliver Maier

 

Oliver Maier graduated and received a medical doctor (M.D) from Medical School Freiburg/ Breisgau, Germany. He was trained in pediatrics and child neurology at university hospital Cologne, Germany. He has done clinical observerships in the department of child neurology at Necker Hospital Paris (Prof Dulac) and at Montefiore Hospital New York (Prof Moshé).

Since 2011 he is the head of the department of child neurology, development and rehabilitation in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

He introduced the evoked potentials technique in the clinical setting in pediatrics. His main interests in this field are normative data in small infants and toddlers and maturational changes in infancy. His clinical focus is the application of evoked potentials in the clinical setting and determining the correct indication for these techniques in children.

Oliver Maier did review publications in this field. For over 10 years he leads the workshop “Evoked potentials in pediatrics”, which is a hands-on workshop. The workshop always gets excellent rating

Besides his interests in the field of clinical neurophysiology his main interests are epilepsy in children, neonatal neurology and movement disorder in children.

He also teaches in the newly founded “Joint Medical Master” at the University of St. Gallen.
