KIRILL MARTEMYONOV

 

Dr. Kirill Martemyanov is the Chair of the Neuroscience Department and Professor at the Scripps Research Institute on Florida campus overseeing the broad range of research activities in the area. His research mainly focuses on the mechanisms of GPCR signaling in the nervous system. He was born and raised in Russia where he obtained his primary education followed by completion of the fellowship training at the Harvard Medical School. Prior to his position at Scripps he worked in a variety of academic organizations including clinical department at a hospital (Massachusetts Eye and Ear) and in pharmacology at a large state school (University of MN). He is an author of well over 100 publications and patents cited thousands of times. Dr. Martemyanov and well recognized for his contributions to understanding brain function and vision.  He won a number of prestigious awards including Cogan Award in vision research, Abel Award in pharmacology and Independent Scientist Award from NIH. He directs a large and productive research laboratory. He serves on a number of editorial and review panels, consults several companies and government agencies. Dr. Martemyanov is also a highly sought after speaker traveling across the world to give about a dozen lectures each year.
