KEYNOTE LECTURE 2

04 October 2017
Antibioresistance KL2 11:30 > 12:20 KEYNOTE LECTURE 2 Auditorium A1 Antibioresistance

11:30 INT2 "Antimicrobial resistance in bovine: development of future drugs without negative impact" > D. Derek Foster
Content : Measurement of antibiotic concentrations in the gastrointestinal tract has historically been difficult and costly to perform. Recently we have developed techniques to obtain this data over time in cattle. These techniques provide new opportunities to assess the risk of enteric bacterial antimicrobial resistance, and correlate pharmacokinetic data with changes in fecal bacteria. Using these methods, we can explore drug properties that either increase or decrease the drug concentrations in the GI tract in order to reduce the negative impact of systemically administered antimicrobials.
