Content : Mastitis due to Mycoplasma bovis has become a worldwide problem causing substantial economic losses to the dairy industry and affecting animal welfare. Notably, in contrast to the US, where M. bovis-mastitis has been reported for decades, until recently the most frequent manifestation of M. bovis infection in Europe was bovine respiratory disease. However, this situation changed in the mid -2000s when M. bovis-associated mastitis emerged in several European countries and Israel.
